ROLLING BLACKOUT
“I walk amidst the acrid dust of the working-class district of Mardjandaffack, I meet people’s gaze; I glimpse white silhouettes. A harmony of non-verbal communication (passed down by human ancestors) juxtaposed with the violent dynamic of modern-day city living; it defines the contours of an intense yet fragile existence. N’Djamena is right there, in the midst of the nocturnal chaos’’. - Nimrod

The series of photos entitled “Rolling blackout” is a poetic evocation of the many ill-timed electrical power cuts that punctuate the daily life of inhabitants in this working-class area of Chad’s capital city and, further afield, that of millions of other Africans.

- This is a set of photos taken at N’Djamena in 2011 and 2012.
